The best protection for workers everywhere
Enabled Works receives donation of SaferMasks
Leeds-based Enabled Works has received a donation of SaferMasks to protect its disabled workforce who own and run the not-for-personal-profit workers co-operative.
Enabled Works is helping with SaferMask’s packing and distribution in response to the soaring demand for their masks as the battle to quell the rise of Coronavirus continues.
Enabled Works was formed after the closure of UK Remploy factories when the government withdrew its support in 2012. They have developed two very different strands to their business.
The first is to train and rehabilitate disabled and disadvantaged people, giving them access to potential work placements fulfilling their mission to assist the local community.
Enabled Works other more commercially-based activity constitutes their day-to-day operations which is the provision of goods and services through contracts with businesses and local authorities. This focuses on pick/pack and distribution, involving a mixture of contract packing, mailings, fulfilment and electrical assembly work.
Tina Brown MBE, Managing Director of Enabled Works said: ‘We are grateful to SaferMask for the donation of masks. Wearing SaferMasks will ensure that our workforce avoid wearing medical-grade masks, so they remain available for our country’s frontline medical staff and other emergency services. The use of SaferMask also avoids the potentially dangerous impact of huge quantities of disposable masks entering our waste systems causing major environmental harm.’
SaferMask is ideal to support workers in this environment as they are reusable and fully washable. Each of the two masks that comprise one pack are designed to be worn for 30 days and washed daily. The wash / wear cycle between the two masks means that a pack of two will therefore last 60 days reducing the cost to less than half the price of a typical single use mask.
The three-layer masks have been extensively tested and accredited by the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) for Anti-Bacterial Performance and Water Repellency and by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for Bacterial Filtration and Differential Pressure.
SaferMasks are made from the finest cotton, strong but with a soft, luscious surface for a luxury feel making them comfortable to wear for long periods of time and are especially suitable for customer-facing staff when branded.
